Get Rid of Your Crib Mobile - Where to Put it Instead!

Now I was born in 1990 so that was a time when if you didn’t have a brightly colored, moving, musical mobile above your crib, were you even a baby?

It may seem like a cute finishing touch for a nursery, but if we want the nursery to be a place where our baby goes down for restful sleep without a fuss, it’s time to rethink the crib mobile.

In a bedroom, we like clean, neutral colors, no TV, no clutter…we want our bedroom to be a place where we can rest and unwind for sleep. Same thing with a nursery! Although it may seem like such a small thing, the colors and sounds and movements of a baby mobile can be an extremely stimulating thing to a baby’s brain.

The crib must be simple and safe with nothing in it but a tightly fitting mattress covered by a tightly fitting sheet. The colors should be simple and calming to the mind. The nursery should be cool and dark at night, with only a small red nightlight.

A wonderful place to hang a crib mobile is over the diaper changing area. When your baby starts to get really squirmy and fidgety during a diaper change, you will be glad you have something interesting for them to lie there and watch instead!
